Your secret place in Florence is...

Piazzale Michelangelo

The Piazzale Michelangelo was built on the hill south of the historic center of Florence following the design of the architect Giuseppe Poggi. Florence was the capital of Italy in this period, 1869, and the whole city underwent an intense urban renewal, the "lungarni" (the streets that follow the course of the Arno) were created; on the right side in the place of the 14th century walls the Circunvallazione was opened and on the left side a panoramic tree-lined street of 8 km was laid out, now called Viale dei Colli, on the top of which the Piazzale Michelangelo was built, as a panoramic terrace overlooking the city.
