Sidemen Valley

The corner where Bali still lives leisurely

Far from the tourist bustle and the best-known areas of the island, Sidemen Valley shows a much more authentic, calm and spiritual version of Bali. Surrounded by endless rice fields, small Hindu temples and paths lost in the jungle, this valley preserves the essence of traditional Bali that many travelers believe has disappeared.

Here the mornings begin with fog, roosters and the sound of water running through the rice fields. Local inhabitants continue to work the land in a traditional way while small offerings of flowers and incense appear in front of each house and temple, forming part of daily Balinese life.

One of the most special elements of Sidemen is the constant presence of the Agung volcano, Bali's most sacred mountain. Visible from virtually anywhere in the valley, the Balinese believe the Agung is the home of the gods and the spiritual center of the island. Its silhouette among the fog and rice fields creates some of the most magical landscapes in Indonesia, especially at dawn.

Unlike other areas of Bali, there are no large beach clubs or constant traffic here. Only small hidden cafes, terraces with impossible views and paths where you can get lost aimlessly between nature and temples.

A perfect place to discover the calm, spirituality and most authentic beauty of Bali.
