Your Secret Place in Athens is...

Mount Lycabettus

Athens' highest hill offers a magnificent viewpoint of the city. Once you're up there, you'll realize just how big it is! You can try to spot the most relevant landmarks, such as the Parthenon, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, or the Panathenaic Stadium. You can walk up, getting some exercise, or take the funicular for €7.50 (round trip). From up there, we witnessed one of the most amazing sunsets we have ever seen anywhere in the world.

The storm clouds and lightning striking above the orange sky were quite a spectacle. So we recommend going up a while before sunset to see Athens from above, both during the day and at night. There's a restaurant at the top where you can dine with incredible views.

Also, don't miss this Rooftop...

The Foundry Rooftop Garden

On top of the amazing The Foundry Suites aparthotel in the heart of Psyrri, you will find what is probably the most lush and charming setting to enjoy Athens from above.

Adorned with olive trees, colourful flowers, grass-covered tiles and vine-covered pergolas, the Roof Garden bar has the look and feel of an untouched Athenian backyard.

Surrounded by fantastic views over the Acropolis and the city, here you can enjoy fresh, local flavours. The rooftop menu includes wines from small Greek winemakers, beers from local microbreweries, refreshing juices, and craft cocktails.

There are also homemade pizzas baked in a traditional wood-fired oven on the rooftop, and a picnic fountain very well suited to the surroundings.

For a natural and relaxing rooftop experience in Athens, you must try the Roof Garden at The Foundry Suites.
