Your Secret place in Lisbon is...
Palace of the Marquises of Fronteira
The Palace of the Marquises of Fronteira in Lisbon (Palácio Marquês De Fronteira) is one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
Little known in general and even less visited by tourists, this 17th-century palace is nevertheless one of the most impressive spots in the Portuguese capital, behind whose façade lie gardens filled with azulejos, marine elements, and mythological figures worthy of a fairy tale.
Nestled in the Monsanto Forest Park (perhaps its location is the reason it receives few visitors), the Fronteira Palace was originally the summer residence of the family of the first Marquis of Fronteira.
In general, the architecture and design of the entire palace complex is in the Italian Renaissance style (with some Baroque elements), hence the importance of the garden surrounding the estate, where getting lost is a true pleasure that will delight photography lovers.
