Your Secret place in Istanbul is...
Küçüksu Palace (Küçüksu Kasri)
Kucuksu Palace was built in wood by Sultan Mahmut II on the Asian side of Istanbul in 1751. In 1856, a two-story marble palace was built by Sultan Abdulmecid. At the time, Dolmabahçe Palace was the official residence of the Sultan. He used the palace only for day visits, which is why the palace did not include bedrooms in its original plan. Although later some rooms were converted into bedrooms, at the time Kucuksu Palace was used as a place of stay for guests or dignitaries and also by the sultan, who would go there to hunt.
Kucuksu means "small water." This name was given to the palace because there is a small river very close by.
The entire palace is very luxurious, from the baroque decorations on the façade, the interior with fireplaces made of valuable Italian stones, the mirrors and chandeliers, the fine floors, to the grand furniture.
Also, don’t miss this rooftop...
Balkon Restaurant & Bar is a relaxed and bohemian rooftop in Istanbul, with a beautiful view over the Bosphorus and the city.
Located in Asmalımescit, the rooftop is open from lunch until late at night and offers international food and drinks, as well as a great atmosphere.
The rooftop menu includes pub-style dishes such as burgers, pizza, salads, quesadillas, and (of course) kebab, as well as cocktails and cold beers. Nothing fancy, but perfect for a casual meal with a view.
During the day, you can enjoy a relaxing setting under the sun or beneath the terrace’s retractable roof. As the night goes on, the vibe picks up and the entertainment begins, with swing, funk, 70s, 80s, soul, house, electro, and funky house music.
Fun, friendly, and relaxing, that is more or less what Balkon Restaurant & Bar is all about.
